Barbados economy shows signs of improvement

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Oct 25, CMC – The Barbados economy grew by 1.3 per cent during the first nine of the year and the Central Bank is predicting that the island will record economic growth of 1.4 per cent for 2016.

Rum Producers call for more gov't action to protect Carib rum industry

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Oct 10, CMC – The head of the West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers Association (WIRSPA), Dr. Frank Ward, is calling on Caribbean governments to do more to protect the product, in the face of increasing competition from heavily subsidised spirits on the international market.

Standard and Poors lowers Barbados’ credit rating

NEW YORK, Sep. 25, CMC – International credit rating agency, Standards and Poors (S&P), has lowered its long-term foreign and local currency sovereign ratings on Barbados to B- from B.The global ratings agency says the outlook for the island is negative.

Barbados to defend policies before OECD meeting
