JAMAICA | New arrival date for COVID-19 vaccine shipment from India

KINGSTON, Jamaica March 3, 2021 - The Ministry of Health and Wellness has advised that Jamaica is now to receive its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, March 8 – a few days later than the March 4 arrival date earlier announced.

CUBA Expands clinical trials for its COVID-19 vaccine Soberana 02

Cuba has expanded phase II B clinical trials of that country's anti-COVID-19 candidate vaccine Soberana 02 with volunteers between 19 and 80 years of age, began at the 19 de Abril and No.1 Polyclinics, in the Havana municipalities of Plaza de la Revolución and La Lisa, respectively.

JAMAICA | Forty COVID-19 deaths, 74 new cases in last 24 hrs

KINGSTON, SEPTEMBER 11, 2020 –  As Jamaica continues to battle the COVID-19 virus amidst the recently announced community spread, the Ministry of Health & Wellness confirms two new COVID-19-related deaths bringing the total number of  deaths to 40 (1.1%), while three more deaths in COVID-19 positive individuals are under investigation.

JAMAICA | Guy wants probe into hospital's refusal to admit young mother in labour

KINGSTON, Jamaica, April 26, 2020: Opposition Shadow Minister of Health, MP Dr. Morais Guy, says the operations protocol within the public health system for COVID-19 needs to be reviewed immediately in light of the death of a young mother who was denied access to hospital care because she presented with flu-like symptoms, which were not considered serious.

JAMAICA | PM Holness Announces Nightly Islandwide Curfews for 7 Days

KINGSTON,  March 31, 2020 - Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced nightly islandwide curfews for a period of seven (7) days with effect from 8:00pm on April 1, 2020 to 6:00am on April 8, 2020. This is the latest in a series of measures announced by the Government to contain the novel coronavirus, COVID19, in Jamaica.
