ST. JOHNS, Antigua, November 30, 2020 – The embattled Regional airline, LIAT, is scheduled to begin its commercial operations today, Monday November 30, with flights operating to seven destinations.

The airline is expected to operate flights five days a week to: Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, and St. Vincent. The limited schedule of flights will return connectivity to these destinations which were impacted by the airline’s suspension of commercial services.

According to the LIAT, “the airline has completed all the training and regulatory requirements to begin operations, and ….several new procedures have been implemented to ensure the safety of staff and passengers as well as reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.

These include the mandatory wearing of masks at check-in and on board, enhancement in its cleaning and sanitisation protocols and new boarding procedures.”

Passengers are invited to book flights via the LIAT website www.liat.com or the Reservations Call Centre. The airline has also published its policy for persons who will want to utilise their credits to book flights during the new limited schedule.

LIAT has introduced its new baggage policy when it returns to commercial service.

While customers will be allowed to carry on a small bag and personal item for free, their 1st Checked bag will cost US$10.

The second checked bag will cost US$60 and the airline said these prices will apply for both ways — that’s US$20 and US$120 round trip.

Infants who are ticketed separately and have a reserved seat are entitled to pay for the first bag allowance of 50lbs(23kgs) per person.

The maximum overall size per piece will be 62 inches (157 cms).

The airline, which is currently under administration, is being restructured following a decision by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda to reorganise the airline.
