BARBADOS | Updated travel protocols for Barbados take effect August 5

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, August 4, 2020 – As the country struggles to carefully reopen the Barbados economy within the context of the devastation brought on by the Coronavirus, the Ministry of Tourism has released updated requirements for entry into Barbados which is scheduled to take effect on Wednesday August 5.

BARBADOS | Mottley welcomes Inter Caribbean Airways Barbados hub

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, August 2, 2020 -Inter Caribbean Airways has expanded its reach to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean and will start operating out of Batbados as of Tuesday August 4. This is the word from Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, who has welcomed the move by the airline.

BARBADOS | Nine of 95 Ghanaian nurses test positive for COVID-19

BRIDGETOWN,  Barbados, Aug. 1, 2020 - Barbados has recorded 12 new cases of COVID-19, acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kenneth George announced Saturday. He told a news conference that of 248 tests conducted on Friday, 12 returned positive results.

BARBADOS | Ghanaian Nurses Arrive In Barbados to bolster healthcare sector

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS. August 1, 2020 - Ninety-five nurses from the Republic of Ghana in West Africa will be on the job at the end of their quarentine period in two weeks, after arriving  in Barbados on Thursday July 30 on a two-year assignment, aimed at bolstering the nursing complement in the public health sector on the island.

JAMAICA | PJ Patterson Pays Tribute to former B'dos PM, Owen Arthur

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica, July 27, 2020 - With the passing of former Barbados prime minister Owen Arthur on Monday, tributes have been pouring in from many of the Caribbean region's leaders. These include Dr. Ralph Gonsalves who has referred to him as a titan of regional integration, Sir Shridath Ramphal who lamented that Barbados had lost a great son and Sir Ronald  Sanders who described Arthur as a Caribbean champion.

BARBADOS | Son Of The Soil: A Tribute To The Late Owen Arthur

Owen Seymour Arthur was born on October 17, 1949, and was educated at All Saints Boys’ School, the Coleridge and Parry School and Harrison College. He graduated from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics, and, after working for a short time in Jamaica, he returned to Barbados. He soon after became an invaluable member of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP).
