Haiti launches massive cholera campaign

PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti, Nov 9, CMC – Haiti Wednesday launched a vaccination campaign against cholera in the areas of  the French-speaking Caribbean Community (CARICOM)  country hard hit hard by Hurricane Matthew last month resulting in the loss of lives of hundreds of people.

Experts seek underlying causes for persistent health inequalities in the Caribbean

WASHINGTON, Oct. 9, CMC – The Panama American Health Organization (PAHO) says the five-month-old Commission on Equity and Health Inequalities in the Region of the Americas has been meeting here to carry out the first large-scale effort to gather evidence on health inequities in the Region of the Americas, including the Caribbean.

Caribbean declared measles free

WASHINGTON, Sept 28,  CMC – The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) says the Americas including the Caribbean, is the first in the world to have eliminated measles, a viral disease that can cause severe health problems, including pneumonia, blindness, brain swelling and even death.
