Abuja, Feb 14 (Prensa Latina) Nigerian government announced today the imminent arrival of 36 ships with oil derivatives to Lagos, financial center and the largest city in the country, where products such as gasoline are scarce.

The long queues proliferated in the last few hours in the main fuel supply centers in the most populated Nigerian city and the second in Africa (after Cairo), while cargo ships are expected to arrive in local ports, which also transport food and other goods.

Some service stations in Ikorodu Road, Lagos Island and Kudirat Abiola Road lacked supplies during the last 48 hours, while others did have fuels and thus, the lines obstructed the vehicular movement.

Local authorities attributed the energy crisis to purchases motivated by panic and the strategies of some marketers to divert products to deceive consumers.

According to the Ports Authority of Nigeria, of the 36 ships with oil derivatives that will reach the ports of Lagos, 16 transport large amounts of gasoline.
