BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, July 5, 2015 - The Fifteen member Caribbean Community trade Bloc, CARICOM, yesterday ended its three-day annual meeting in Barbados with statements regarding the Guyana/Venezuela border dispute and the Dominican Republic/Haiti citizenship row.
Bridgetown, Barbados – President of Guyana Brigadier (Rtd.) David Granger, has implored the Caribbean Community to reaffirm its collective support for the principles enshrined in international law for safeguarding territorial integrity, sovereignty and national independence.
The 53-nation Commonwealth Saturday reiterated that it was siding with Guyana in its maritime and land border controversy with Venezuela, even as the global organisation prepares to discuss the issue in New York in another three months.
The precise date for election in Venezuela is not defined as yet. Probably Venezuelans will go to vote in October - November. President Nicolas Maduro said he wanted an election as soon as possible. GEORGETOWN, Guyana, June 8, 2015- (CND) -Guyana on Monday warned that it will take action if Venezuela enforces a recent unilateral shift in its maritime boundary that includes an area in Guyana's continental shelf where American oil giant Exxon has found a significant oil deposit.
GEORGETOWN, Guyana, June 6, 2015 -(CND) Guyana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Carl Greenidge on Saturday said government would be taking appropriate action if it confirms that Venezuela has extended its claim of the Atlantic Coastal waters to include those off Guyana.
