JAMAICA | Standard & Poor's Upgrades Jamaica's Ratings; Outlook Remains Stable

KINGSTON, Jamaica, September 28, 2019 - Standard and Poor’s Ratings Agency (S&P), yesterday upgraded the Government of Jamaica’s long-term foreign and local currency rating to “B+” from “B” and affirmed the ‘B’ rating on the short-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings. The outlook remains “stable”. S&P Global Ratings also raised its transfer and convertibility assessment to 'BB-' from 'B+'.

KINGSTON,  September 22, 2019 - Former Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, has praised Jamaica for the “remarkable” accomplishments under its financial arrangements with the Fund, which have now concluded.

KINGSTON, Jamaica September 19, 2019 - The IMF has congratulated Jamaica for the successful completion of the country’s economic reform program supported by the IMF’s Stand-By Arrangement. In a statement, the IMF said “The authorities’ exemplary program implementation has resulted in a stronger economy with significant reduction in vulnerabilities, and increased job creation.”
