KINGSTON, August 16, 2016 - The winner of the 2015 Miss Universe Jamaica pageant, Sharlene Rädlein, has been stripped of her title.
The announcement was made at a press conference at the Jamaica Pegasus on Monday.
The principals of the organization say Rädlein's actions have been inconsistent with the culture of the pageant, both locally and internationally.
The stripping of Rädlein's title comes after she filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court on July 20.
Rädlein alleges that the defendants, Karl Williams, fellow Miss Universe Jamaica manager Mark McDermoth, and Uzuri International Designs, are in breach of an agreement to award her a prize package, valued at more than $2 million. The suit claims they are in further breach by not paying over the cash prize portion of the prize due since January.
