Venezuelan Central Bank Received 540 Kilos of Gold

Caracas, Jan 19 (Prensa Latina) Victor Cano, Minister for Ecological Mining Development, informed today that the Orinoco Mining Belt yielded 540 kilos of gold to the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) in its first delivery of 2018.
'These are 540 kilos of Venezuelan gold for the welfare of the people', wrote Cano in the Twitter social network.

He detailed that the amount represented in 541 gold bars will contribute to finance social projects, productive activities, as well as to strengthen the reserves of the South American nation.

He also pondered the effort of workers at the Mining Arch of the Orinoco and relied in their work to reach the target of 24 tons of gold this year for the coffers of the Venezuelan bank. If this amount is achieved it would be a record in the mining history of Venezuela, stressed Cano.

Besides gold, the Mining Arch harbors minerals such as diamonds, iron and bauxite that represent a potential of over one billion dollars, point local news media.

The minister also recalled that in 2017, workers of this sector contributed over eight tons of gold to the BCV.
